Magdalena Abakanowicz @ Tate Modern. Abakan Red and Abakan Orange
These carpets are woven from discarded ropes of sisal, by an artist being completely without any traditional weaving skills. Abakanowicz says that this is one of the reason why she actually made it; she saw her limitations as possibilities, and her ability to transform the material and her selflearned technique into pure art.
